Houston Lake Mining Intersects 479 g/mt Gold over 1.22m
(13.97 oz/st Au over 4ft.) in Percussion Drilling Program at Angel Hill

December 6, 2005: Sudbury, Ontario - Houston Lake Mining Inc. (TSX.V: HLM, the "Company") is pleased to report on final results received from 235 percussion drill samples that tested 3 areas of the Angel Hill Gold Zone (“AHGZ”). The AHGZ is one of two gold zones identified thus far on the Company’s 100% owned, 635.6 hectare (1569.8 acre) West Cedartree Gold Project located near Sioux Narrows, Ontario. The percussion drill hole samples are intended to serve as a preliminary grade control for the planned 1000 tonne bulk sample. Sample intervals varied from 0.91 to 1.52m (3 to 5ft.). The assay results from the 235 blast hole samples range in value from 0.01 g/mt Au over 1.52m (5ft.) to 479 g/mt Au over 1.22m (13.971 oz/st Au over 4ft.) and have weighted average of 7.86 g/mt Au (0.229 oz/st Au). Blasting of the bulk sample is expected to take place within the next few weeks.

As disclosed in the press release of October 20, 2005 the AHGZ has an estimated inferred mineral resource of 106,400 tonnes grading 2.97 g/mt Au at a cutoff of 2 g/mt (117,286 short tons grading 0.087 oz/st Au at a cutoff of 0.058 oz/st) or 49,700 tonnes grading 4.77 g/mt Au at a cutoff of 4g/mt (54,785 short tons grading 0.139 oz/st Au at a cutoff of 0.117 oz/st). The estimate is based on systematic channel sampling and drilling programs (1733m in 26 holes) defining a block 160m (525ft.) long extending from surface to a depth of 75m (246ft.). Average recoveries of 93.4% have been previously reported in preliminary bench tests. The gold mineralization remains open to depth and along strike to the south. The AHGZ can be traced by geophysics for a distance of 2.1km (1.3 miles) on the property to encompass gold-in-soil anomalies and a gold occurrence along strike.

The bulk sampling program currently underway forms part of the recommendations outlined in a recently published NI 43-101 report on the AHGZ. The bulk sample is designed to test a portion of the AHGZ and is not intended to be representative of the entire inferred gold resource. As a prelude to bulk sampling three mineralized areas (A, B & C) were selected within the AHGZ and were tested by a systematic pattern of vertical percussion drill holes (see section entitled Sampling and Assaying Protocols). The AHGZ has a geologic strike of N20ºE and appears to dip to the east at approximately 70 degrees.

Area A tests the main mineralized lens (Lens 1) and is located at 55mN (180ft. north) near the northern end of the 130m stripped section of the AHGZ. A total of 59 percussion holes tested both Lens 1 and the surrounding wall rock to more closely define the extent of the gold mineralization. Each blast hole was drilled to a depth of 4.57m (15ft.) and sampled every 1.5m (5ft.) on average within each drill hole. The 180 drill samples returned assay results that ranged from 0.01 g/mt over 1.52m to 85.9 g/mt Au over 1.52m (2.505 oz/st Au over 5ft.) and averaged 5.72 g/mt Au (0.167 oz/st Au). The extended drill pattern has served to outline a higher grade inner core of gold mineralization that will be the primary focus of the bulk sample. This inner core yielded a range of assay values from 0.054 over 1.52m to 85.9 g/mt Au over 1.52m (2.205 oz/t Au over 5ft.) and had a weighted average of 9.666 g/mt Au (0.282 oz/st Au). The reader should be cautioned that actual grade of the processed bulk sample may be somewhat lower than this weighted average owing to effects of dilution and other factors.

Area B (31 samples) and Area C (24 samples) target portions of Lens 1 and surrounding rock in the central portions of the stripped area and are intended to serve as supplementary draw points. Area B is located at 0mN where 8 percussion holes were drilled to a depth of 4.57m (15ft.) and sampled every 1.5m (5ft.) on average. An additional 4 holes were drilled to a depth of 2.44m (8ft.) and sampled every 1.22m (4ft.). The 31 Area B samples had results that ranged from 0.012 g/mt over 1.52m to 76.8 g/mt Au over 1.52m (2.240 oz/st Au over 5ft.) and had a weighted average of 6.960 g/mt Au (0.203 oz/st Au).

Area C is located at 20mS (66ft.south). Twelve percussion drill holes were drilled to a depth of 2.44m (8ft.). Sample intervals were 1.22m (4ft.). The 24 Area C samples returned assay results that ranged from 0.035 g/mt to 479 g/mt Au (13.971 oz/st Au) and had a weighted average of 29.126 g/mt (0.850 oz/st Au). Independent Consulting Geologist Dean R. Cutting, P. Geo., the Qualified Person for the project as defined under National Instrument 43-101.

Bulk sampling of the AHGZ is expected to be completed within the next few weeks. Houston Lake is funded to complete the ongoing bulk sampling program. The Company is currently seeking financing to execute the recommended Phase 3 drilling program at Angel Hill.

Houston Lake’s president and C.E. O., Grayme Anthony, commented: “We are more than pleased by the receipt of higher grade gold numbers from Angel Hill. However, it is the fact that the gold mineralization has continued to stand up to ever more rigorous examination that reassures us the most. Houston Lake been well rewarded for our meticulous work on the West Cedartree Gold Project. With less than 1% of the potential of the AHGZ investigated to date we look forward to further exploration of the gold zone.”

Sampling and Assaying Protocols

The blast holes were drilled by a 2 ½ inch diameter percussion drill to depths of 4.57m (15ft.) or 2.44m (8ft.). The three drill patterns each consisted of sections spaced 1.5m (5ft.) apart with 1.22m (4ft.) intervals between blast holes. The drill sections tested both mineralized AHGZ and barren wall rock.

Systematic sampling of cuttings from the primary cyclone of the percussion drill were taken from an average of every 1.5m (5ft.) from each 4.57m (15ft.) blast hole (Areas A & B) and every 1.22m (4ft.) from each 2.44m (8ft.) hole (Areas B & C). It should be noted that percussion drill samples may be less representative than those samples derived from diamond drilling. Each percussion drill sample was homogenized in the field and quartered utilizing a Jones Riffler. All samples were kept under lock and key until shipment for analysis.

A total of 235 homogenized and quartered samples of drill cuttings were shipped by bonded carrier to ALS Chemex Laboratories in Thunder Bay, Ontario for sample preparation and in North Vancouver, B.C for fire assay analysis with a 50 gram charge. Fire assays with an atomic absorption finish were conducted on all samples. Those samples assaying in excess of 10 g/mt Au were reanalyzed by fire assay with a 50 gram charge and a gravimetric finish. Reference material, blanks and duplicate samples were inserted into each analytical run by ALS Chemex for in house quality control purposes.

Houston Lake is actively exploring for Gold, Platinum Group Metals and Rare Metals with a strategic focus on NW Ontario. The Company has a total of 18,706,862 common shares issued and outstanding.
