PRESS RELEASE

Drilling Update on the Tib Lake Palladium Property

September 26, 2000: Thunder Bay, Ontario - Houston Lake Mining Inc. ("Houston Lake") is pleased to report that drilling has been completed on two drill holes and the third drill hole has reached 100 metres.

Contrary to third party reports, Houston Lake has not as yet received any assay results. A total of 112 drill core samples have been shipped to Chemex Labs of Mississauga, Ontario and the results will be announced upon receipt. Drill hole TL-95-09 is not part of the current program. This 1995 drill hole intersected 1.68 g/t PGE’s (palladium, platinum and gold) over 18.47 metres of core length. Houston Lake considers the 1995 drill intercept to be economically significant as similar grades are currently being mined from the nearby Roby Zone at the Lac Des Iles mine of North American Palladium Ltd.

Houston Lake is actively exploring for rare metals, platinum group metals and gold in northwestern Ontario. Houston Lake Mining Inc. has a total of 12,762,432 common shares issued and outstanding inclusive of the final closing. The common shares of Houston Lake Mining Inc. trade through the facilities of the Canadian Venture Exchange under the symbol HLM.
